Mark VIII International (1919)

Ok, here is a base start for upcoming Heavy Tank from 1919th. In my childhood I really enjoyed Indiana Jones movies and there was the same model that impressed my mind.768b892c22929cf45437a501045a4d6f.png

Great choice.  Looking forward to seeing this one develop.  There should be some good reference out there for areas you can't see on the blueprints.

This is looking so nice :)

Are you replicating/instancing the rivets or copy/cloning them?

Are you replicating/instancing the rivets or copy/cloning them?

First variant was the copy inside one mesh and after your question I made them instanced :)

The rivets are plain mesh with subsurf

This is a beauty.  Nicely observed tracks too with the pressed dome shapes in the plate.

This tank is looking great.  Nice video too - you should get it posted into Squirrel TV.  Let me know if you need any assistance with this.  :D

Great work here and a very effective animation.  Can you explain how you've gone about animating the tracks?

Thanks :)

The tracks were made using Array modifier and applied to Curve

after giving tracks the desired shape I simply shift it on Z-location

if you look at the screenshot you'll understand the technique

Here's the order:

1. Animation

2. Curve modifier

I think it'll be the same for other softwares ^_^

Ripped metal, an excellent use of deformation tools.

A great idea to add a wrecked version, nice work.  The water and mud puts the tank into context too, such an atmospheric render.  I don't really want this challenge to end, there's so many ideas to explore  .
